Following on from releases by the likes of Djedjotronic and Maelstrom, Zone Records already interstellar 2014 goes into overdrive with the signing of former Instra:mental producer Jon Convex.
Now recording as Jon Convex, Kirkham has fully embraced the world of Techno and Electro but again on his own terms, taking the genres’ skeletal framework and injecting all his years of influences from The Alan Parsons Project and Autechre to the film scores of Vangelis and John Carpenter that Kirkham immersed himself in as a child growing up in his mothers video rental store.
Having played on numerous occasions at the Social Paris Club for Zone, it seemed fitting that Jon Convex would end up producing for the label and his debut EP, 2 tracks of forward thinking dark and sinuous Techno and body jacking electro are the perfect fit.
